How to edit a flow

Learn how to edit the details and configuration of a flow in Klaviyo.
By editing a flow, you can:
- Update the name
- Update the filters
- Edit the content of flow messages
- Delete messages and other elements
Update the name of a flow
To edit the name of an existing flow:
- Navigate to the Flows tab.
- Find the flow you'd like to edit.
- Click three dots.
- Select Edit Details.
- In the modal that appears, update the name of the flow and, if applicable, the tags as well.
- Click Update flow.
Update the trigger and profile filters
When you navigate into an existing flow, you can click on the trigger card to review the flow trigger, trigger filters, and profile filters.
Note that after you set the trigger for a flow, you cannot change it. You can, however, update the trigger filters and profile filters at any time. To edit either set of filters:
- Click on the trigger card to open the trigger setup view.
- In the settings sidebar, click Edit next to the filter type you'd like to update, either Profile Filters or Trigger Filters.
Profile filters are available for all flows, but trigger filters are only available for flows triggered by an event (e.g., Started Checkout).
Profile filters are checked when someone first enters a flow as well as before each step and thus before each message is sent out. Filters are useful in two ways:
- Targeting your flow to a specific audience
- Setting conditions which cause someone to drop out of the flow
Filters that target or restrict the entire flow to a specific audience are the same as with segmentation. You can choose from the following types of criteria:
- What someone has done (or not done)
- Properties about someone
- If someone is or is not in the EU (GDPR)
- Someone's proximity to a location
- If someone is in or not in a list
- If someone can or cannot receive marketing
- Predictive analytics about someone
- Has not been in this flow
- Random sample

Edit the content of your flow messages
When you open the flow builder, you will see a card for each message in the flow which you can edit. To open the flow builder, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Flows tab.
- Find the flow you'd like to edit and select it.
- In the flow builder, click on the specific message you would like to update.
- Click Edit in the settings sidebar.

Delete flow elements
To delete a flow element, including splits, updates, webhooks, and messages:
- Click the action button (3 dots) in the top right of the flow element card.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm by clicking Delete again.
Deleting a flow message will remove all analytics for this message from reporting. If you have accidentally deleted a flow message with analytics data, contact Klaviyo support.
Stop a message from sending without deleting it
If you'd like to stop a message from sending and keep its analytics, you can set it to from Live to Draft status.
If you want to replace a message and keep its analytics:
- Set the original message from Live to Draft status.
- Clone the original or drag a new message card onto the flow canvas.
- (Optional) Rename the messages so you can differentiate the original from the new version.
If you'd like to delete or replace multiple messages and elements in you flow, consider cloning the original flow and setting the original to Draft. You can then keep the original flow and its analytics while editing the clone as desired.

A copy of the original flow must be created because once you have set the trigger for a flow, you cannot change it. Trigger filters, profile filters, additional email filters, and dynamic content in emails are all reliant on the specific trigger you set for a flow. Most likely, if you change the trigger for an existing flow, this will cause conflicts with your filters and content that are challenging to identify and correct.
