About review incentives
Review incentives are a great way to boost your review submission rate and add more reviews to your site. You can offer customers a small gift or thank you for their review, like:
- A discount or free shipping on their next order
- A gift
- Free product in exchange for honest reviews
- Entry into a giveaway or sweepstakes
When offering incentives like these, or when the reviewer has a personal relationship with you or the brand, it’s a reviews best practice to disclose the incentive on the review itself.
Disclosing review incentives
Klaviyo offers the option to indicate that a reviewer received an incentive for any submitted reviews. You can do this in 3 ways:
- Manually mark individual reviews as incentivized.
- Automatically mark reviews as incentivized using a flow.
- Generate an individual link to leave an incentivized review.
Incentivized reviews appear with a small Incentivized tag and gift icon in reviews widgets. In certain contexts, only the gift item is visible. By hovering over the icon, a visitor can see what type of incentive the reviewer received.
Manually mark a review as incentivized
You can manually mark a review as incentivized if you need to add the indicator to an existing review.
- Navigate to the Reviews tab.
- Click All reviews.
- Search for the review you’d like to mark as incentivized.
- If the review is not already published, click Publish. Pending reviews cannot be marked as incentivized.
- Open the three dots menu and select Mark as incentivized.
- In the modal that appears, select the incentive the reviewer received.
- Click Mark as incentivized.
Automatically mark reviews as incentivized using a flow
You can automatically mark future reviews as incentivized with a setting in the review request flow.
- Navigate to the Flows tab in Klaviyo.
- Open your review request flow.
- Click the card for any review request message that mentions an incentive. This will open the message sidebar.
- In the Settings section of the message sidebar, select Enable UTM Tracking.
- Select the option Use custom tracking parameters.
- Check Mark reviews as incentivized and select an incentive type.
- Click Save.
- Repeat these steps for any other messages in the flow that reference an incentive.
- Click Publish flow to set your changes live.
Generate an individual link to leave an incentivized review
If you’re offering an incentive to a review outside of your flow, send them an incentivized review link.
- Navigate to Reviews > Products.
- Opening a product’s additional options menu.
- Select Copy incentivized link to review.
